Near the end of my holiday in UK

Finally when Im on holiday in UK, outside China, I can get access to my blogger. How time flies! We've been here for nearly 3 weeks. And tonight is the last night we have at Al's parents' house.We are gonna leave to London tomorrow morning and fly back to China in the evening...

We've been enjoying the family's company. Al's parents have been very kind and generous to me. His sis is a very clever and talented girl, and also a good baker.
We have gone to Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Tate Modern Liverpool, Machester University Art Gallery, William Art Gallery, had the Beatles' magic tour and the first experience in Old Trafford watching the first team training of United!

Al and I quite enjoyed the wandering in Chester which remains some Roman historic spots. I liked the Tudor's hourses there as well. In the last part of the holiday, we went to Scotland to visit Al's grandparents and uncle Steve, and then travelled to Huntingdon to visit uncle David.

The holiday has been fun and wonderful. It's about to be over soon. We will arrive in Beijing on Saturday night and take the night train to Dalian on Sunday. Then I will head to the office on Monday morning after the train arrives at 7am. So yeah, the time has been tight since the very beginning to the end! ( I was refused to get the visa at first, and got it for the second try one day before we left to UK)

We went to see an local activity near our home yesterday morning which lasts from the 26th to 31st, May. A group of old people were dressed up doing Yangge Dance there. Al got much fun from seeing that and he even danced for a bit under a dancer's invitation. I am hoping that he will upload his "dance video" onto his flickr. You can see some photos about the activity from his blog ( http://clarkalastair.blogspot.com/ ). There were also some art shows on in those Japanese houses along the street.

I spent 213 yuan on the new tea set for myself- 1 gai wan(three pieces cup), 1 gong dao bei( fair cup) and 8 pin ming bei( small cups for tasting) and a tea tray which is used for making kung fu cha (see http://chineseteas101.com/kungfu.htm ).

Feeling a bit down these days, less inspiration and more frustration.Tired of facing to the laptop in the office. Feeling a bit lost about how I will develop myself in art. I do need some artist friends who can gimme advice and encouragement. While here where I am, sigh...

I was interrupted when painting this one last night by being called to do some company search work. I envy those people who can do something they like as a career. I'm scared of that one day I would lose passion for life, in whatever of it.

A dream I had this morning

I didn't really know what happened between this old man and me.

He was sitting there on that sofa silently as usual.He is too old and ill, hard to say a word to others. There was a flash of sparkle in his eyes when he saw me appearing in front of him.
He opened his mouth slightly, trying to tell me something.
I know he is trying to remember the rhythm of the song.
I brought along his old cello of which the neck was already broken.
I sat down besides him and put the cello to his arms.

"Urgh...it..broke..."
"I'm sorry about that..", I felt the bitterness in my heart.

He touched the cello quiveringly , fiddling on the string and bowing with his powerless hands. Some scattered tones jumped to my memory. His body couldn't afford more. I remmebered the rhythm completely now. I realised the relationship between him and me. But I know the end of his life will come right soon. After the last tone on his cello, he was gone, in my arms.

My tears fleed out.

You sneaked back from Australia, three months later.Happy to have your visit, even a short lunch.But we talked as usual over the lunch-Mi Xian.Felt like you've never left.Dunno where your relationship is going.But indeed hope you could be well, be happy.Take care of yourself although you told you always tended to be a "destroy-er".Don't want to see you falling into a depressing situation.

I know you care about me and want me to have a stable life away from those waves and winds.While in another hand, I did imagine before that if I were single, how nice it would be to be your flatmate and enjoy a free life there in Australia with you and experienced our little "gloomy" days.:-) (I wouldnt like to study the Accounting tho.) While I do hope you will soon find what you want from your life...in every aspect.

I was on the bus which flied up towards it.
It was very real.

There's two dogs, one cat in the room.
And my dear Al.

I had a talk with my career coach today.Talked about my Developement Plan.I felt a bit akward afterwards for my emotional reaction.What kinda person she would think of me?I couldn't believe I did tell her I don't actually have ambition now in this field.I dont want to let others down to think it was a wrong decision to gimme some brilliant opportunity.

"My dream is to become an artist."
Saying it, I felt I was falling in darkness.
"But I will take my responsibility without doubt."

It's like a scar in my heart that can result in my depression and emotion every time.I feel I'm useless and powerless sometimes.Sometimes I feel my mind is wandering in my own world-a desert,an old town,a quiet book bar with chilled music...,while others are talking business.
I know I will go back to art one day.Because I've never really left it behind mind.

One week training in Suzhou finished as the ending of my four weeks' pre work training and seven weeks for some other colleagues.I had a good time from walking in the streets of Suzhou, visiting the famous Humble Administrator's Graden and tasting Su Bang Cai(Suzhou flavors food). Didn't get used to the climate there tho.too much hotness and too little wind for me.Many of my colleagues slept with the air-conditioning on at night.

The following entries are some of my shots during the week.I took the new camera Lumix FX36.Much lighter than my DLSR of course.While the quality is surely lower as a result.

I went to the Humble Adiministrator's Garden with my colleagues on the last day.I really enjoyed the extrodinary sights in it.You could feel the beauty from any position.Furthermore,different views you can appreciate from different angles.Everytime when I turned back on the way, another nice picture came into my eyes as a little surprise.The whole garden is like a beautiful Jiang nan girl to me, subtle, reserved, quiet and charming.Thanks to our late arriving, there were not too many tourists in the garden.That gave us a more quiet enviroment to appreciate the wonderful being of it.
The area of the city we've been to also gave me an impression of silence.Maybe it was the ancient city of Suzhou.The street was not wide.We didn't find many private cars either.The buildings were not high.Instead were old houses with strong local character.
I was attracted.

My first week training finished yesterday with a glad mood to say bye to the auditing teacher.(I just love Friday) It proved that I didn't feel any achievement but waste of time,which is what most of my colleagues felt.I have to start studying the CPA now when there are 56 days left to the exam.I'm sure I will fall behind next week training.

Stunt Photographer Li Wei

Chinese artist Li Wei from Beijing started off his performance series "Mirroring" and later on took off attention with his "Falls" series which shows the artist with his head and chest embedded into the ground. His work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. Li Wei states that these images are not computer montages but works with the help of props such as mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics.
"My work and artistic experience are characterised by a unique specificity and particularity. Back from Shenyang

Having spent a week in Shenyang visiting relatives door by door, we now come back to the home in Dalian.I took many pictures with my 40D while the weather in Shenyang didn't give me much good mood to capture more interesting stuffs in the street.It was so hot in Shenyang that I wondered how I had been through 20 years there when thinking of those hot days in classrooms at school.

Despite visiting relatives, we went to Zhao Ling which is an imperial cemetery for the first emperor of Qing Dynasty.We also went to an antique shop near my uncle's where Al bought his mother a Chinese fan. But we didn't go into Da Shuai Fu(Marshal Mansion) because we thought the 50 yuan ticket/person was not worthy.So we just walked around the house and actually I liked the sorrounding old buildings much.After that,we went to a Catholic church nearby.On the last night in Shenyang, we had a meal with two of my clubmates.Al's upset stomach obviously didn't ruin his day even when we seemed to spend for a while in the shopping center.:-) We did see many interesting things there.

I got some oppotunities to take good photos.I made my cousin to be my model again in my uncle's house.(Al just complained that he didn't get to tell my uncle's many things lack of my translation coz I was takin pictures at that time!) Anyway, I got some good ideas to set up a connection between the model and the enviroment to produce a beautiful effect but what the shame is the shutter speed was not high enough in the lighting to get focused photos.Moreover I have no tripod.So when I viewed the photos on the screen, very very few "qualified" pictures were there.

Other than the photos of my cousin, I got several lovely pictuers of an one month old kitty who has a tiger-like body.:-) It's my neighbour's new cat.

I'm drained

That's how the universe run.After over two months' job hunting,I came back to the initial position.I felt I've been drained.Clear called me the other night telling me I'm probably not be able to enter Capgemini coz the headquater hasnt decided to recruit more new graduates in consulting.I hadn't take Cap as my last opportuniy but my most-wanted opportunity.Until that day,I realised I'd been taking it as a last hope.I had been aiming in getting a job in Beijing.Although no companies there have given me any pleasant response,I thought at least I still had approaches to Cap..Now in the middle of November,when the recruitment process has been moving to the middle stage,I know I have to change my strategy to re-target,on Dalian...

The thought to go to Beijing so that Al can find a job more easily in IT kept my attention just on BJ.It seems not realistic.I'm not capable enough to make it as a graduate from Dalian.Clear said I shouldn't take so much burdens which are not supposed to be mine at such an age.I can't help it.And now I know I have nothing in hand.Although PwC has informed me to go to the final interview next week,it's not a choice of mine to travel around for business.I have to balance the things I want.It's not kinda money or fame desire but so much concerns of my families,my relationship and my strong personality.

What is job?For career,or for living.

I received PwC's phone call yesterday morning when I was still in bed(actually already 10:30am).I passed the aptitude test and will go to the round-Assessment Center.Suddenly felt PwC was already there waiting for me.Just a feeling,while still feel a little nervous before the interview.There are three parts of Assessment Center:connecting thinking,case study and one to one manager interview.Not the whole process is made in English.The first part needs you to make up a story and play a drama with your teammates with the three words given.The second part is the traditional case study.I have forgotten how I do it when I was freshman in the case study competition.But I should be more self-confident.The manager interview is one to one.I like that,better in English...

Journey

The job searching season is always filled with frustration,worries and fuss.People can easily lose themselves under such a big pull from the climate.What kinda job do you want?What do you want to do?What kinda person are you?

When you face to a dilemma of "go" or "not to go",you get stuck in those questions and was tempted by the offers in front of you.OR,no one seems like you as a member of them,no companies accept you.You would easily get lost too.You will tend to give in before the current reality."Maybe I should just pick a random job coz I'm afraid I'd be dumpted by the 'God of jobs' "

Don't complain about the society or untold rules.The fact is fact.What has happened is the truth.You have to live with it.Nothing is more powerful than the truth to give you the "fairness".And the society itself is objective.You are driving the ship.You decide the direction.As long as the result,it's up to the rules-both natuaral and social.And the spirit to keep your ship safe in whatever storm lies on your heart and mind.Your mind is the source of peace.

And I am trying to keep mind peaceful in the stream.

Night of Rock

He is a funny guy with "diverse" facial expression

Went to see Christophe Godin's guitar show in Olympic Square.There were several young bands too.Had a noisy and rocky night there taking pictures for the host.Had a not too bad time.After all,I've been tense and upsetting Al.It was time for me to release,well,in a "shakey rocky" way.

PS: I took the pictures with Canon 400D,TAMRON AF 17-50mm f/2.8
which were borrowed from Xiaoqi.I like big apiture.
